Boler Mountain Addition
If you live in or around London, Ontario and partake in various extreme sports you should be well acquainted with Boler Mountain. It offers adrenaline seekers many different activities from skiing, snowboarding, and tubing to summertime activites like mountain biking, and tree gliding.
The current original chalet replaced the first version in 1972, so needless to say, it has been around for many years as a place to enjoy physical activity among nature.
Last year was time for an addition.
The chalet roughly doubled in size, and now with all this extra space, is now making its’ place in the wedding and event industry! Very exciting.
The addition was designed by London/Toronto Architect firm: Architects Tillman Ruth Robinson (ATRR), and blends seamlessly with the original to create an absolutely stunning facility. The new portion of the building features stone, wood, metal siding and glass materials in the same colour scheme as the original. The new half also includes a beautiful balcony that guests can sit out on and enjoy the view.
I was thrilled to photograph all aspects of the addition and focused a lot on the interaction between the chalet and the surroundings, the textures, and people utilizing the space.
There were a few issues over the project such as the short dusk/twilight time I had to work with during the winter, but nothing a few extra visits couldn’t remedy!
